The Wynnum Manly Family Practice is not a "Bulk Billing" Practice.
This means that a fee is generally charged for consultations. Medicare pays an amount to the patient (the "rebate"), however this is less a than the consultation fee, the gap being the "out of pocket" expense.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM 1ST JANUARY 2026: As Medicare rebates have failed to keep up with the increasing cost of providing healthcare (see below), consultations fees at the practice will increase from January 1st, 2026. As a result, the gap fee paid by patients will increase, and we are no longer be able to offer bulk-billing to children under sixteen and concession card holders.
Longer consultations, procedures, or extra tests (e.g. ECG, lung function tests) may incur a higher fee. If you think you may require a longer consultation, please discuss this with our friendly reception staff at the time of making your appointment.
The current fees for the most common consultations at the practice are -
NON-CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS:
Standard consultation: $90 fee, $43.90 rebate, $46.10 gap
Long consultation: $160 fee, $84.90 rebate, $75.10 gap
Prolonged consultation: $230 fee, $125.10 rebate, $104.90 gap.
CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS AND CHILDREN (15 years old and under):
Standard consultation: $75 fee, $43.90 rebate, $31.10 gap
Long consultation: $135 fee, $84.90 rebate, $50.10 gap
Prolonged consultation: $195 fee, $125.10 rebate, $69.90 gap.
For your convenience, the Practice is able to submit your claim to Medicare electronically (provided your bank details are registered with Medicare). In this case, your rebate will be paid directly into your account by the next business day (and sometimes even sooner).
It is expected that all accounts be settled at the time of consultation.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS: Please note that Patients who fail to attend an appointment without prior notice may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to the consultation fee for the appointment missed. Patients who repeatedly fail to attend appointments will be asked to seek care elsewhere.
